New Clients

I’m a new client, and I don’t know what to book.

You need a “New Client Appointment” as shown in our booking system. This appointment allows you time for a thorough consultation, and for your stylist to execute any color corrective techniques you may need in the first session.

It’s my first time to the studio, where can I park?

We are lucky to be within a short walk from the Metro North Westport train station for NYC clients. If you are driving, parking is available anywhere you see open. We have parallel parking, retail and 3 Metro train lot options, as well as covered parking available. We have not yet had a situation where a client has received a parking ticket.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Please show up for your color session with product free, dry hair. It’s fine if your hair has not been washed, but it needs to be free of buildup. Leaving buildup can cause interactions with professional products used, or extend the time of your appointment. Please have 1-2 pictures of hair color or style you would like. More than 2 pictures is not a good starting place because many times we see several tones within these photos. Our job is to narrow down what you would like, and get you results.

What is maintenance like?

While maintenance differs slightly for individuals, generally what is required for health hair is to be consistent with glosses, at home treatments and planning your next session. After your balayage session, we recommend you book your next gloss 4-6 weeks after your appointment. This is not only to keep your color looking fresh, but to maintain the health of your hair by filling the hair with necessary nutrients. Any lightening session will deplete your hair of nutrients it needs to feel and look healthy. It is imperative to replenish these nutrients with a proper schedule and at home maintenance, otherwise your color will not look and feel its best over time.

Is balayage cost effective?

When it comes to most things and especially hair, you get what you pay for. We use premium professional chemicals and products for your session, one on one services, as well as provide a calm and relaxing environment with amenities like a lounge with wifi, healthy drink bar, snacks, hot towel service and a professional photography studio in the heart of Saugatuck. We do believe our balayage and highlighting is more cost effective versus traditional highlights as you get softer grow outs, allowing more time to pass between sessions. When you choose to color your hair whatsoever, you are making an investment in your personal appearance and well being. We believe hair is such an important part of how you feel about yourself and how others perceive you. As such we feel there are no shortcuts when it comes to long term hair happiness and health.
